Helping men take the lead in family planning

A community health strategy launched three years ago offers a comprehensive approach to health issues, says Josephine Kibaru, head of the Family Health Department in the Ministry of Public Health.
Several reproductive health institutions have devised other ways of reaching out to men. For example, the Marie Stopes Clinic in Kisumu is targeting men and boys at their favourite pastime — football, boat and bicycle riding competitions, where officials disseminate information on family planning.
